The New, New Stupid Thing

Aimee and I will try the La Paz Marathon on March 10.  Fortunately, there is a big hill to start the event because the elevation alone (10,500'-13,500') wasn't enough to make this undertaking the stupidest thing ever.  We hope to get to the top of the big hill after 2 hours and then descend, more or less, for eighteen miles.  No problemo.

Here is a link to the course with an altitude profile:

So we have to make some training runs.  Here we are heading out for a really swell half-marathon:

I am the old fat gringo on the left, in case you were wondering.

And, as luck would have it, we still had good weather at the finish in Mecapaca:

Just twice that effort and it's done.  Oh, and a little higher in elevation.

  2. It's a 45 minute flight and a 4 hr drive. There are thousands of real dinosaur tracks.

But I think you meant Torotoro and not the run to Mecapaca?
